Where Downtown Is
Downtown St. George centers on Main Street, St. George Boulevard, and Town Square, with Utah Tech University a short walk east. This is the oldest part of the city, settled in 1861, and its grid of tree-lined streets holds many of the region's best-known pioneer-era buildings.
History and Landmarks
The St. George Tabernacle, the old Dixie Academy building, and the Woodward School surround Town Square, which has splash pads, gardens, and seasonal events. Brigham Young's Winter Home and Office at 67 W. 200 North is open to visitors, and Ancestor Square holds shops and restaurants. The Washington County Historical Society publishes self-guided walking tours of Town Square and Ancestor Square.
Homes
Downtown housing ranges from historic and mid-century homes on older lots to newer townhomes and condos. Older homes can carry renovation needs, and some properties may have historic designations or city rules that affect changes. Being close to the university and downtown events means more activity and traffic than a suburban subdivision.
Schools and Access
Washington County School District assigns schools by address, and boundaries change as new schools open. Confirm the current elementary, intermediate, middle, and high school for a specific home with the district's boundary tool before you rely on it. I-15 is reachable via St. George Boulevard and Bluff Street.
